My first experience eating at this establishment was positive. They seemed understaffed, but I wasnt in a hurry, and I was content to read the paper with my coffee while waiting for my food. I came back again a few weeks later with my fianc. It seemed another busy morning and we waited a few minutes by the door and the sign saying please wait to be seated. No one came to greet us. Since there were several empty and clean tables, as well as free seats at the counter, we decided to seat ourselves. As I lowered myself into a counter chair, I was rudely informed by the waiter, we arent seating anyone now. Did you expect us to stay standing by the door, unacknowledged, when there are seats to be taken in the restaurant? I cant imagine an effective business model including turning away paying customers. We left immediately and wont be back.
If I could do no stars I would. Just following up on my husbands review to include he also told a waitress to ignore a customer sitting at table 9 because he yelled at him not to sit there, when she asked 10 minutes later if she should help him, he said "if you want, I'm not going to". He also took a to go order and when it was taking a long time the customer left, saying he was coming back. The owner took his order down and said not to make it until they came back. Yelling at customers and staff was constant. At one point he told the chefs to use apple bread covered in blueberry syrup for an order requiring apple bread claiming they wouldn't know, when the chefs balked he went back and yelled at them. Awful. So sad to write this, this place used to be my favorite.
I have been here on 3 separate occasions for lunch. The service has always been above and beyond. The menu changes and each item I have had was delicious. I really cannot express how good the food is over a review. But believe me, the homemade taste and portions are great.(Prices are very fair as well) I always like to support my local businesses, when possible. Keep up the good work guys/gals!
This place is under new ownership. All the staff has changed over and the new owner is incredibly rude to staff and customers. As people entered the restaurant this morning he was yelling at them from the front that it would be anywhere from 25 to 40 minutes before they get their food. At one point a gentleman sitting next to me left and the water glass that he was given was returned to the tray with the other fresh glasses of water for the next customers. We sat at the bar to eat our breakfast and as he was entering transactions in the computer when looking at the tips he kept commenting to himself thanks for nothing. The food my wife was given wasnt quite right it had poached eggs instead of over medium. She cut into the eggs thinking the kitchen had made her food wrong and the owner came by and took her plate away and gave it to a different table with the eggs cut up. It turns out her plate was still being made. The owner also told one of the waitresses to ignore a customer at a specific table because he didnt want the customer sitting there. At this point I wont be returning here. We used to enjoy the food and the atmosphere but with this new owner being so rude and disgusting I refuse to offer any more of my business.
This was by far my favorite restaurant a few months ago. After a recent ownership change I'm afraid the quality has dipped dramatically. I had the biscuits and gravy which reminded me of fast food. My wife had an omelette that was ok, but cold . Previous ownership had the best hash browns, new hash browns tasted like they were out of a bag.We miss George's cheesecake as well as the old servers. (All previous servers were let go)I understand this is a new ownership and it may take some time to get things right. We will give it another try in a couple months and I will revise my review if we think things have improved.
